Minecraft Banner Patterns: Names and How to Get Them
Java 1.21.11Find all 42 Minecraft Java 1.21.11 banner patterns, their loom names and previews. Separate ordinary patterns from the ten items that unlock special designs.
How many Minecraft banner patterns are there?
Java 1.21.11 has 42 addable banner patterns: 32 ordinary loom patterns and 10 unlocked by a pattern item. The base banner color is separate and is not counted as an added pattern.
Flat previews use the pinned Java 1.21.11 texture masks. Game lighting, cloth movement and placement are not shown. The recipes are checked for pattern identities and the six-layer limit; these previews do not claim an in-game build test or Bedrock compatibility.
Ordinary loom patterns (32)
Use a banner and dye in the loom. These patterns do not require the third pattern-item slot.

What is included in the pattern count?
The banner's base color is not an added loom pattern. The fixed-version registry includes a base entry for rendering, but counting it as an addable pattern would incorrectly give 43.
The cards above show the in-game English pattern names. A colored name such as White Pale is the pattern name plus its dye color; it is not another pattern. Several names use heraldic terms: Pale is a vertical stripe, Fess is a middle horizontal stripe, and Saltire is a diagonal cross.
How do you get ordinary loom patterns?
Ordinary patterns are available when you put a banner and dye in the loom. They do not require a separate banner-pattern item. A decorated banner can receive further layers until it reaches the six-pattern limit.
A pattern, its unlocking item, and the finished banner are different things. The ten special designs need the matching pattern item in the loom's pattern slot. The item names and obtaining methods are listed beside their previews above.
How do you get Flow and Guster?
In Java 1.21.11, Guster comes from a regular Vault; Flow comes from an Ominous Vault in Trial Chambers. These are loot outcomes, not guaranteed rewards from every Vault. The fixed-version regular reward table and ominous reward table identify the two items.
Snout is a different item found in the generic Bastion Remnant chest table. Do not assume every type of bastion chest can contain it. Globe is obtained through a master cartographer trade; prices can vary, so this guide does not promise a fixed price.
Which patterns are craftable items?
Flower, Creeper, Skull, Thing, Field Masoned and Bordure Indented have pattern-item recipes in the pinned version. Each uses Paper and the additional ingredient shown in the card. Field Masoned uses a Bricks block, not one Brick item. Skull uses a Wither Skeleton Skull, not a Skeleton Skull.
Older Java guides can show different loom requirements. Java 1.21.2's release notes document the pattern-item change for Field Masoned and Bordure Indented. This page targets 1.21.11 rather than claiming the same inventory and recipes for every edition or version.
Make something with the patterns
For a complete A–Z set of ordered loom recipes, make banner letters. B and D require the Bordure Indented pattern item; the guide states each letter's prerequisites. For texture and material lookup for a block build, browse material textures.
The catalogue comes from versioned game data mirrored by mcmeta. The previews are flat composites of the site's pinned texture masks, not gameplay screenshots. Counts, identities and source scope are checked; in-game lighting and Bedrock parity are not claimed. Report a mismatch with the version and pattern name.
